| This unusual design combines a light, wide bodied, fin-keeled hull with a traditional gaff rig. The hull configuration provides high stability, performance under sail and generous accommodations. The gaff rig was chosen to avoid the high costs associated with a modern rig and deck hardware. All rig components can be fabricated by the builder himself. Hull construction is strip planking with an overlay of cold molded veneers and is laid up over bulkheads and molds. In the larger sizes where design costs are a much smaller part of overall budget, we find the purchase of a stock plan seldom makes economic sense. It will usually be found that there are greater savings to be made by tailoring the design precisely to the requirements of construction and usage.
